Centrepoint Salters’ Foyer works with young homeless people to help them turn their lives around. One of the key ways they achieve this is to support clients and encourage them to engage in education and employment opportunities. Each client is offered a “Centrepoint Lifewise” programme . This is a comprehensive package of life skills workshops that include budgeting, healthy eating and drugs and alcohol education. It is designed to equip young people with the skills required for independent living. All the clients have access to IT equipment, internet access and support to access training opportunities either at college or by taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme.
An award of £7,300 will help towards the cost of the Learning Advisor. For more information about Centrepoint and the vital services they offer young people visit www.centrepoint.org.uk.
City Karting will offer 20 disadvantaged young people from the EC1 area of Islington the opportunity to construct and drive their own racing karts with the aim of engaging them in education and the local community. Run by lectu

At a series of track sessions they will be able to drive and repair the karts under race conditions.
An award of £5,000 will help towards the cost of the 2008 project. For more information about this innovotive project visit the City University website.
