Welfare Grants
Due to the high number of people applying to this fund we have taken the decision to no longer accept applications from the general public.
From 1 April 2009 we will only accept applications from a support worker that is aware of the family circumstances and is employed by a local advice agency . This may include social workers, youth workers, support workers, school teachers, education welfare officers and School-Home Support workers.
School-Home Support will continue to run this scheme on behalf of the Foundation.
Referrals are now being accepted for the school year starting in September 2009. However, please note that no funds will be issued before August 2009.
Please note that due to the increasing demand for these grants, applications for school uniform will be prioritised for the following:
● A child's first time at school - nursery or reception class
● Children starting their first year at secondary school
● Children who are moving schools
Grants are only available to help with the cost of buying school uniform (including shoes), PE kit or clothing for school.
We cannot make grants for:
● computers
● books and equipment![]()
● musical instruments
● after school and breakfast clubs
● clothing other than school uniform
● holidays
● white goods such as washing machines and fridges
If you are a worker at a local advice agency you can get full details of our guidelines and an application pack by emailing: uniformgrants@schoolhomesupport.org.uk
A family can only receive one grant in any academic year and they will need to provide copies of the receipts for all the items purchased with the grant.
