Our governors

Mark Jessett (Chairperson)

Mark has long-standing connections with Camden and was originally appointed to represent the borough. His career has included running a SME, working for large corporations and providing management consultancy. This experience gained across financial markets, technology and media industries in London.

Mark sits on the Foundation's Investment & Finance Committee and Strategy Committee. His predominant interest at RRF is helping young people acquire skills which offer them opportunities in London’s changing business landscape.

Mark joined the Foundation in 2011.

Revd. Nick Mottershead

Nick is a self-supporting minister in the Holy Sepulchre, The National Musicians’ Church, engaging with the ethics, moral and cultural challenges of the City as well as exploring the various forms of sanctuary and offering spiritual support for those who need it. Alongside his ministry he has a full-time job as CFO and Head of Compliance for a    FinTech focused on financial inclusion in the MENA region.  Nick is an individual committed to personal and corporate accountability, with a passion for social justice and enabling people and communities to flourish and succeed.

Angelo Weekes

Angelo was born in the borough and went to School and was raised in the Mildmay ward.  A keen local campaigner, Angelo works in the Higher Education sector and is passionate about improving the lives of all Islingtonians with a cleaner, greener, healthier, prosperous borough and making Islington a safer place. Angelo believes that good education is fundamental to giving children an excellent start in life and is a vehicle for positive change and for that reason he opted to become a school governor in 2009 in his very early twenties. He is currently a governor at a primary school and a Chair of the board of governors at a secondary school, both in Islington. Angelo is a Islington Local Authority  Councillor and  Chair of the borough’s Licensing Committee.

Gerald Rothwell

Gerald is a founding Partner of Vermeer Investment Management, specialising in investment for private individuals, Trusts and Charities. He was educated at Christ’s Hospital and the London School of Economics before becoming a Director of Laing & Cruickshank and Quilter Cheviot.

 

Gerald became a Trustee in 2014 and is currently Vice Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Investment and Finance Committee.

Alistair Wilson

Alistair is a Partner at TwentyFour Asset Management as Head of Institutional Business, managing investment relationships for a range of clients including pension schemes, banks, insurance companies and charities. He is a Liveryman of Haberdashers for which education is of prime importance and has led to his interest in its impact on young children. Alistair sits on both the Grants and Investment Committee.

His other interests revolve mostly around sport with a particular passion for cricket and rugby both of which he still plays.

Alistair joined the Foundation in 2019.

Kate Frood

Kate retired from  headship Eleanor Palmer Primary School in Camden in 2021 after almost 4 decades working in education. With a first degree in English and a masters in children's literature, Kate fell into teaching mathematics and developed a specialism in - and love of - reasoning and problem solving. Kate taught two maths lessons weekly right until the end of her time in school as well as leading action research alongside classteachers across Camden. Kate has written books that enliven fluency routines.

Since 'retiring' , Kate works in school improvement providing support sessions to NQT's and NPQs running courses and heads up subject networks in the borough.

Kate was awarded an OBE in 2017 for services to education.

Charlotte Hilton

Charlotte is a Partner in London law firm Wallace LLP, specialising in corporate law with over 20 years’ experience of UK and cross border mergers and acquisitions, with a focus on the property sector.

 Charlotte has an MA in Jurisprudence from Oxford University, being the first member of her family to attend university.  Charlotte has a young daughter and a strong belief in the importance of education and is passionate about providing opportunities for children and young adults to improve life chances.

Charlotte joined the Foundation in 2020.

Elizabeth Gallagher

Elizabeth is a barrister and Deputy District Judge. Originally from Bradford in West Yorkshire, she now lives in the City of London and practices from chambers in the Temple. Being part of the first generation of her family to go to university, she knows the difference that edcation can make. She has an interest in social mobility and improving the life chances of children and young people.
